‘A larger-than-life presence’: Friends and family remember Spencer Lesinski

Waynesburg,PA:- Spencer Lesinski’s laugh could fill a room before he even walked through the door. Friends say it was impossible not to smile when he was around — his booming voice, quick wit, and fearless joy in life made even the most ordinary moments feel like a celebration.

“He had this way of making you feel like you were the only person in the room,” a family member recalled. “Once you met Spencer, you were part of his circle.”

Spencer, who grew up in Greene County and served in the U.S. Marines, died on October 3, 2025 at the age of 24. His family and friends describe him as a larger-than-life presence — a man with boundless energy, an adventurous spirit, and a love of people that defined everything he did.

A fearless spirit

Born July 10, 2001, to Kevin and Kimberley Skelton Lesinski, Spencer graduated from Waynesburg Central High School before enlisting in the Marines. That decision, relatives say, reflected his drive and sense of duty — a willingness to step forward when needed.

Even outside of service, that same courage showed up in everyday life. He was the first on the dance floor, the first to suggest a road trip, the first to grab the microphone when karaoke night began. “Spencer didn’t just live life,” said one cousin. “He lit it up.”

Anchored by family

Family was the anchor of Spencer’s world. He is survived by his parents, Kevin and Kim; his brother, Brenden; grandparents Martha Atwell and Don and Marilyn Lesinski; aunts and uncles Kelley Garrett, Michelle King (Tim), and Bill Skelton; and cousins Devon Garrett, Trevor King (Kristen), Cole Garrett (Taylor), Cassidy King, and Riley King (Gwen).

He was preceded in death by his grandparents William and Connie Skelton and Thomas Atwell, and his great-grandmother, Julia Lesinski.

His parents say they will remember him not only as a son with a big laugh and even bigger heart, but as someone whose compassion and zest for life carried into every friendship and connection.

Funeral Events

Spencer was employed with TruCore in Point Marion at the time of his passing. His colleagues and friends say he brought the same energy to his work as he did to his social life: never halfway, always with commitment.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, Oct. 7, from 1 to 6 p.m. at Behm Funeral Home in Waynesburg. A service will follow at 6 p.m., led by Pastor Jay Buckhalter, with military funeral honors from the Greene County Honor Guard — a recognition of Spencer’s service to his country.

A final reflection

In the face of their loss, Spencer’s family turns to the words of scripture: “But the Lord stood by my side and gave me strength.”

For those who loved him, Spencer’s memory will always be tied to that strength — not only in faith, but in the laughter, courage, and light he brought into so many lives.
